Tensions escalate in Nampally as BJP and Youth Congress leaders face off

Nampally: Tensions ran high at the BJP office in Nampally, Hyderabad. A protest by Youth Congress workers over BJP leader Ramesh Bidhuri’s remarks about Priyanka Gandhi turned into a chaotic clash. The confrontation saw protesters breaching police barriers, hurling eggs and tomatoes, and BJP workers retaliating with sticks, leaving one injured and raising serious questions about political civility and law enforcement preparedness.
The incident unfolded around noon when Youth Congress protesters charged toward the BJP office from Nampally main road. Despite police efforts, the protesters reached the office gates. They pelted eggs and tomatoes. BJP workers came out of the office with sticks. They tried to chase away the Congress workers. The police tried to control the escalating situation. One BJP worker was reportedly injured.
The protest was sparked by Bidhuri’s speech about road construction. It contained a controversial comparison involving Priyanka Gandhi. In a viral video, Bidhuri said, “I assure you that, just as we made the roads in Okhla and Sangam Vihar, we will make all the roads in Kalkaji like Priyanka Gandhi’s cheeks.” He later expressed regret on social media, claiming his comments were misconstrued for political gain.
In response to the incident, BJP State General Secretary Dr. Kasam Venkateshwarlu and other party leaders held a press conference at Dr. Shyam Prasad Mukherjee Bhavan. They condemned a pre-planned attack. They accused Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Mahesh Kumar Goud. They questioned the police’s preparedness, noting that the attackers used eggs, sticks, and iron rods.
BJP leaders have complained to the Director General of Police and the Hyderabad Police Commissioner. They demand strict action against the perpetrators. The party emphasized its commitment to democratic protest while warning against violent confrontations in the future.
