Temple trust’s funds siphoned in Suraram
Madhapur: In a brazen scam, funds collected for the temple construction were siphoned by a person who promised land allotment and construction, resulting in losses over Rs 1.2 crore. Cyberabad Police booked a case investigating how funds meant for the temple were siphoned through a sophisticated deception.
Going further into details, a person representing Sri Nikhila Sai Maithreya Madhusudhana Saraswathi Peetam Seva Sangam in Suraram, Jeedimetla approached the police with the ordeal.
According to the complaint, U.Narasimha reportedly impersonated as an MRO office official, contacted the complainant and assured land allotment for constructing the Sri Patuka Bairva Sahita Sri Aghorarudreshwara Sametha Sri Hanumat Pratyagira Temple.
“The fraud began in 2017, where Narasimha was allegedly promised to secure 11 acres and 5 guntas of land in Alipur village of Shivampet mandal in Medak district, initially demanding Rs 1 crore.” The complainant added that under multiple excuses from routine expenses to emergency COVID-19 medical treatments, and a marriage settlement, Narasimha siphoned funds.
Accused given handed over fake land documents claiming it as original
Further, the accused maintained trust, provided land documents which were later found to be fake and fabricated stories about pending approvals. He referenced an ACB case against a local RDO to explain delays, extracting an additional Rs 15 lakhs under the pretext of resolving bureaucratic hurdles.
In more appalling details, another victim, Kumar, fell into his trap. He reportedly lost Rs 60 lakhs and suffered unauthorized credit card usage of Rs 2 lakhs by the accused.
The Cyberabad police registered a case under sections 420(cheating), 406(criminal breach of trust), 467(forgery), 468(forgery with an intent to cheat), and 471(using forged document) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Further investigation is underway.
