Indian Fox – Fighting Habitat Loss

HYDERABAD: For the first time in Telugu wildlife cinema, a stirring documentary brings to life the untold story of the Indian fox, set against the sweeping grasslands of Telangana. Indian Fox – Fighting Habitat Loss is more than a film; it is a heartfelt plea to safeguard one of the state’s most vital yet often ignored ecosystems. At its heart lies a simple truth: a wolf in a grassland is as beautiful and important as a tiger in a forest.

Filmed over three years in the wild expanse of Ramnathgudpalle Grasslands, Mominpet, this documentary invites viewers to walk in the pawprints of a male Indian fox. Through his perspective, audiences witness the vibrant life of the grassland, from nurturing playful pups and sharing space with cattle herders to confronting mounting dangers from outsiders.Indian Fox – Fighting Habitat Loss1

“This grassland is one of the largest remaining in Telangana and is a biodiversity hotspot,” said Chinnaboina Pradeep Kumar, the film’s director and a key cinematographer. “It’s not just home to the charismatic Indian fox, but also to Indian wolves, blackbucks, and a wide variety of resident and migratory birds. Our film is an attempt to bring this hidden world to the public.”

Furthermore, this project extends far beyond the screen. Guided by the VWOLFS Foundation and presented by Wild Telangana, the team has become a driving force for conservation. Over three years, they have championed the cause of Ramnathgudpalle, submitting proposals to state authorities and calling for legal safeguards to protect this delicate landscape.Indian Fox – Fighting Habitat Loss3

The film’s core message is simple yet profound, “A wolf in a grassland is as beautiful and as important as a tiger in a forest.” It challenges the conventional forest-centric view of wildlife conservation and calls for the urgent preservation of grassland ecosystems.

Primarily, narrated by actor Navdeep and featuring music by Rajeev Raj, the documentary is a collaborative effort by a dedicated team of wildlife enthusiasts and filmmakers.
