HYDERABAD: Nagaraju Balkam, 26, a Telugu man and senior executive at Infosys BPM, has been arrested in Santa Fe, Georgia, on charges related to the exploitation of minors, local law enforcement officials said.

The arrest followed a detailed undercover operation conducted by the Special Victims Unit. Officers created fake online profiles and engaged with Balkam over time, gathering evidence from digital conversations, officials added.

Authorities said the charges fall under strict child exploitation laws in the United States and carry severe legal consequences. Investigators are examining whether Balkam was involved in a wider network or similar activities beyond the initial findings.

Balkam, who holds a bachelor’s degree from Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology, remains in custody, with further legal proceedings expected in the coming days.

The case highlights the increasing role of cyber surveillance in preventing crimes against children. Police urged the public to exercise caution in online interactions with minors.
