Tollywood delegation to discuss industry issues with Telangana CM

Hyderabad: Several prominent personalities from the Telugu film industry are scheduled to meet Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Thursday at the Command Control Centre. The meeting, set for 10 a.m., will also include Telangana Film Development Corporation (TGFDC) Chairman Dil Raju.
Initially, reports indicated that actor Chiranjeevi would attend alongside actor Venkatesh Daggubati and producer Allu Aravind, but it has since been confirmed that Chiranjeevi will not participate.
The attendees from the film industry include actors Venkatesh, Nitin, Varun Tej, Kiran Abbavaram, and Siva Balaji. Directors Trivikram, Harish Shankar, Anil Ravipudi, and Bobby, along with producers Allu Aravind, Daggubati Suresh, Sunil Narang, and others, will also be present.
Representatives from the Telangana government, including Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ministers Bhatti Vikramarka, Mallu, and Damodar Raja Narasimha, will join the meeting alongside CM Revanth Reddy.
The discussions are expected to address a range of issues affecting the film industry, including ticket rate hikes, the recent stampede at Sandhya Theatre, and the promotion of Telangana cinema. Congress leader and actress Vijayashanthi expressed hopes for a comprehensive discussion on supporting small-scale artists, technicians, and mid-budget films, while also addressing the industry’s role in preserving local culture.
The backdrop of the meeting is the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre during the premiere of Pushpa 2: The Rule. The stampede resulted in the death of a woman, Revathi, and left her son seriously injured. Following the incident, CM Revanth Reddy announced that his government would no longer allow benefit shows or special incentives for the film industry. The decision has drawn significant public attention, particularly after claims that actor Allu Arjun, informed of the incident, failed to respond appropriately.
In the wake of the tragedy, the Telangana government has extended financial assistance of βΉ25 lakh to the family of the victim. Minister Komatireddy Venkatreddy visited the family at KIMS Hospital to offer support.
