Telangana issues yellow alert for 22 districts

HYDERABAD: Day temperatures are set to rise across Telangana from Friday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad issuing a yellow alert for 22 districts.

The Met centre said maximum temperatures are likely to cross 35–36°C in these districts. In Nalgonda, Suryapet, Bhupalpally, Peddapalli, Jagtial, Mulugu and Mancherial, temperatures may range between 36°C and 37°C.

Night temperatures have also increased, hovering between 15°C and 20°C.

Light to moderate rain in parts of state

Meanwhile, scattered rain was reported in parts of the state under the influence of a low-pressure system. Sonala in Adilabad district recorded 1.6 cm rainfall.

In Mahabubabad district, gusty winds accompanied by rain damaged crops. In Kesamudram, Kothaguda and Gudur mandals, maize crops were flattened in several places, while paddy was affected in some areas.

Electric poles collapsed in Ootai village, disrupting power supply in several locations. Farmers suffered losses as ready-to-harvest maize crop fell to the ground.

In Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, light to moderate rain was reported in several mandals. At Yadagirigutta, mats and platforms arranged on the hilltop for the celestial wedding ceremony of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy were soaked in rain and later replaced.
