What did KTR say?
It is pertinent to note that, earlier a video of KTR, who was seen speaking sarcastically about women doing household chores in the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses has gone viral. Here, KTR was heard saying, “Seethakka asked, whether it is a mistake to peel garlic in a bus, I did not say that its a mistake. But we did not know that the buses were made free for such purposes. Let them do sewing also, not a problem, but increase the number of buses, as there are people struggling. Then, let them have one bus for each passenger and break dance along with the family.”
Seethakka in a reply addressing KTR said, “You do not have respect for women. You said, women and their families can do ‘break dance’. For the last ten years, you have a history of encouraging pubs, clubs, break dances, which is the reason why you are talking in such a way.”
These statements of KTR were widely circulated and the Women’s Commission said that these comments are inappropriate and cause distress among women across the state. With this, the Commission has informed that it has initiated a suo moto inquiry into the matter, with the powers vested through the Telangana State Women’s Commission Act.
