Telangana faces dry, hot spell before scattered thunderstorms
HYDERABAD: Telangana is likely to experience mostly dry and hot weather until July 15, followed by isolated to scattered thunderstorms in parts of the state between July 16 and 19, according to current weather model guidance.
Dry continental winds are expected to dominate during the initial phase, limiting rainfall across the state. On July 13, another largely dry day is expected across Telangana, with high temperatures continuing in several regions.
East Telangana may record temperatures of 38°C to 40°C, while north, central and south Telangana could see maximum temperatures ranging from 36°C to 39°C. Hyderabad is likely to record temperatures between 36°C and 38°C.
Similar dry and hot conditions are expected to continue until July 15.
Scattered thunderstorms possible, but widespread rain remains unlikely
Weather conditions may turn more humid from July 16, with isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible in parts of Telangana until July 19. However, the storms are not expected to be widespread.
Current model guidance indicates scattered thunderstorm activity across parts of the state during the broader July 15-21 period, with rainfall remaining isolated to scattered.
A low-pressure area is expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal during the July 21-25 period. Current indications suggest that the system could move towards north-central India rather than Telangana. Its eventual track will determine whether the state receives significant rainfall from the system.
Long-range guidance hints at wetter spell from late July
Mostly cloudy conditions, accompanied by light or isolated showers, are indicated for the July 25-28 period.
Long-range model guidance suggests the possibility of a more significant spell of widespread rainfall over Telangana, including Hyderabad, from around July 28. The wetter phase could extend into the first half of August if the projected weather pattern develops as indicated.
Overall, July could remain a relatively subdued rainfall month for Telangana unless the expected Bay of Bengal low-pressure system takes a track favourable for the state.
