Telangana Electoral Roll Revision: 3.1 Crore Voters Receive Enumeration Forms
HYDERABAD: More than 3.1 crore voters, or about 91.85% of Telangana’s electorate, have received enumeration forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls, Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudharshan Reddy said on Monday.
The distribution has improved in districts that were previously lagging. Rangareddy recorded 87.35% coverage, while Medchal-Malkajgiri reached 73.12%. Hyderabad district also crossed the 70% mark.
Focus shifts to collecting completed forms
During a video conference with officials across the state, the CEO reviewed the progress of the enumeration drive. He directed district authorities to complete 100% distribution of enumeration forms in all urban areas by Tuesday.
He also asked officials to speed up the collection of completed forms before July 20, even though the official submission deadline is July 24.
The CEO instructed district education officers and Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) to identify underperforming booth level officers (BLOs). He asked them to provide additional support through supervisors and volunteers. He also directed officials to set up more help desks in urban areas to assist voters.
Emphasis on voter verification and polling stations
Sudharshan Reddy asked officials to identify absent, shifted and dead (ASD) voters during the house-to-house verification drive. He instructed BLOs to interact politely with voters and help them fill out the enumeration forms.
The CEO also reviewed polling station rationalisation. He directed officials to carry out the exercise carefully and avoid any overlap in polling station boundaries. He asked EROs to assess the need for new polling stations based on the findings of the enumeration exercise.
He also instructed officials to keep members of the same family in the same section and part of the electoral roll. Wherever possible, neighbouring households should also remain together.
