HYDERABAD: Telangana is entering a phase of accelerated development guided by the state’s Vision 2047 roadmap, Roads & Buildings and Cinematography Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said at the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2025 on Monday.

The Minister said the government aims to position Telangana as a major economic hub of South India and a globally competitive investment destination. Addressing global investors and policy experts, he noted that the state is building an integrated infrastructure ecosystem spanning roads, railways, aviation, digital systems, power, health and logistics.

Komatireddy announced that Telangana has framed its first comprehensive Road Sector Policy, setting long-term priorities and investment strategies for the next two decades. He said the state is poised to emerge as a logistics centre with a proposed world-class dry port that will expand global trade access and strengthen industrial capacity.

Major road and expressway corridors planned

Komatireddy said strong road networks remain central to economic expansion. Key initiatives include the Regional Ring Road with radial links, Hybrid Annuity Model road projects worth ₹11,399 crore, and a proposed eight-lane Greenfield expressway linking the two Telugu state capitals with an elevated corridor to Srisailam.

The Minister said he had earlier requested Union transport minister Nitin Gadkari to approve Hyderabad as the venue for the next Indian Roads Congress, which has since been agreed to.

Rail, aviation and health infrastructure push

Telangana will move toward high-speed, high-efficiency rail systems with dedicated freight corridors, international-standard stations, expanded regional rail networks and future proposals for high-speed and bullet rail, the Minister said.

He added that the government is strengthening the state’s aviation ecosystem to support business travel, logistics and tourism. Public health capacity is also being expanded through Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospitals, which will provide free, high-quality healthcare.

‘Telangana is rising’

Komatireddy said the state benchmarks its development against global leaders such as Japan, Singapore, Germany, South Korea and China. He invited investors and experts to partner with the state in shaping mobility and infrastructure systems for the future.

“Telangana is not just growing  Telangana is rising,” he said, before the session moved to a panel discussion.
