Telangana to present Gaddar Telangana Film Awards on June 14 in Hyderabad

Gaddar Telangana Film Awards Receives 1,248 Nominations; Actress Jayasudha Chairs Jury

Hyderabad: The Telangana government announced that it will host the first-ever Gaddar Telangana Film Awards ceremony on June 14, 2025, at HICC in Hyderabad.

The state government established the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards after a decade-long gap following the discontinuation of the Nandi Awards post-bifurcation, to recognise excellence in cinema. The government will also present two special awards in the name of cinema legends Paidi Jairaj and T Kantha Rao.

While speaking at a press conference, deputy chief minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the Congress government is committed to promoting the Telugu film industry, alongside Urdu cinema in the Telugu state.

The Telangana State Film Development Corporation had invited applications from directors and producers to recognise the best Telugu films released and certified by the Censor Board in 2024, under the following categories:

  • Feature Films (Telugu and Urdu)
  • National Integration Films
  • Children’s Films
  • Environment/Heritage/Historical Films
  • Debut Director Films
  • Full-length Entertaining Films
  • Animated Films
  • Special Effects Films
  • Documentary Films
  • Short Films
  • Best Actor/Actress and Technical Experts Awards

The Film Development Corporation has so far received 76 applications from directors and producers for the above categories and a total of 1,172 nominations in individual awards categories.

The films released between June 2014 and December 2023 and certified by the Censor Board will be eligible for recognition in the Best Film category for each year. The awardees will receive both a cash prize and a certificate of appreciation.

Meanwhile, a jury led by veteran actress Jayasudha has begun screening the nominations. The award ceremony is expected to be a grand celebration of cinema as efforts are being made to celebrate talent and unity within the industry.
