HYDERABAD: Telangana Northern Power Distribution Company Limited recorded its highest ever peak power demand of 6,267 megawatts (MW) on Sunday, CMD Karnati Varun Reddy said on March 1, 2026.

The utility surpassed Saturday’s peak of 6,057 MW, marking a milestone in TGNPDCL’s history, he said. He attributed the increase to planned measures taken in advance.

Demand rises as temperatures increase

With temperatures rising steadily, power demand has increased sharply, the CMD said. Despite the surge, the company is supplying uninterrupted power under a comprehensive plan, with focus on strengthening infrastructure.

He said the utility is fully prepared to meet demand without disruption, regardless of further increases.

Chief Minister monitors power situation

Karnati Varun Reddy said the company is working to ensure continuous supply under the supervision and guidance of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Special Chief Secretary (Energy) Naveen Mittal.

He said demand is likely to rise further in the coming summer, and the utility is taking precautionary measures to prevent any inconvenience.

The statement was issued by the Public Relations Officer.
