Telangana students excel in CAT 2024, secure top ranks
Hyderabad: Students from Telangana have secured top ranks in the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024, a key exam for admission to the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other prestigious institutes.
Two students from Telangana achieved a 100 percentile, while three students scored in the 99.98 percentile. Students from Andhra Pradesh also made their mark, with one student securing a 100 percentile.
Across India, 14 students scored a perfect 100 percentile. Maharashtra led with five toppers, followed by Telangana. Other states, including Karnataka, Delhi, and Tamil Nadu, also performed strongly
The CAT 2024 exam, conducted by IIM-Calcutta, was held on November 24, 2024. The results were released on December 19, 2024, and the final answer key was published on December 17, 2024. The exam was held across 389 test centers in 170 cities, with nearly 2.93 lakh candidates participating.

What is the CAT Exam?
The Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based exam used for admission to graduate management programs in India. The test consists of three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Ability. The exam is conducted online, lasting a total of three hours, with one hour allocated to each section.
The CAT exam is primarily used by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for selecting students for their business administration programs (MBA or PGDM). Each year, one of the IIMs conducts the exam, following a policy of rotation.
