Telangana State Medical Council discovers lapses in hospitals, clinics in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) inspected various hospitals and clinics in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) area on Wednesday and found several lapses.
According to TSMC, most hospitals are not displaying the registration numbers issued by the TSMC for consultant doctors on the hospital display board.
It was found that some hospitals are appointing Pharm D degree holders as Duty Medical Officers (DMOs) and they are also writing the case sheets for patients. TSMC also discovered that many hospitals are appointing Ayush Doctors as DMOs.
A few consultants from other states were also found practicing in Telangana State without registering with TSMC. Additionally, some consultants were found practicing without renewing their registration with TSMC.
In response, TSMC directed all super specialty hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private hospitals, and registered medical practitioners in the State to appoint only MBBS degree holders as DMOs. TSMC strictly instructed against appointing other degree holders like Pharm D, BAMS, BHMS, BUMS, etc., as Duty Medical Officers. Furthermore, TSMC emphasised that all consultants practicing in Telangana State should register or renew their registration with TSMC.
TSMC further instructed that while appointing doctors, the appointing authority should verify the genuineness of the doctors with the consultation of TSMC. Verification can also be done online at www.onlinetsmc.in using the Doctor Search option.
If any violations are observed, TSMC warned to take appropriate action as per the TSMC and NMC Act 2019.
