EC announces Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Telangana from June 25

Telangana voter list verification showing duplicate and deceased entries

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of India has announced a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Telangana with October 1, 2026, as the qualifying date under Article 324 and Section 21 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950.

As part of the exercise, house-to-house enumeration will be conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from June 25, 2026, to July 24, 2026. BLOs will visit every household to distribute partially pre-filled Enumeration Forms in duplicate to all existing electors and assist them in filling the forms.

According to the schedule released by the Election Commission, preparation, training and printing activities will be carried out between June 15 and June 24, 2026. Rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations will be completed by July 24, 2026.

The draft electoral roll will be published on July 31, 2026. Claims and objections can be filed between July 31 and August 30, 2026. The final electoral roll will be published on October 1, 2026, after disposal of all claims and objections.

Election officials said BLOs would make at least three visits if a house was found locked or closed during enumeration. Electors can also download Enumeration Forms and submit them online. Online submissions will later be verified by BLOs during house visits.

The Electoral Registration Officers will publicise the dates of BLO visits in advance in respective localities. BLOs will collect the filled forms and provide acknowledgement copies to electors.

Officials said electors were also requested to provide details of their names or the names of their parents, grandfather or grandmother appearing in the electoral rolls of the previous Special Intensive Revision conducted in 2002. BLOs will assist electors in furnishing these details.

The Election Commission clarified that names of all electors who submit duly filled Enumeration Forms during the house-to-house enumeration period would be included in the draft electoral roll published on July 31, 2026. This will include forms submitted online.

Electors who fail to submit Enumeration Forms within the prescribed period can apply for inclusion during the claims and objections phase using Form 6 along with the prescribed Declaration Form.

For electors who have not furnished complete details, Electoral Registration Officers and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers will initiate inquiries. Electors can submit supporting documents during hearings.

During the claims and objections period, eligible citizens can apply for inclusion as new electors using Form 6 with the new Declaration Form. Electors can also seek correction or updating of entries, shifting of residence, replacement of Elector Photo Identity Card (EPIC), or marking of Persons with Disabilities status using Form 8.

Officials said voters shifting from outside Telangana must submit a Declaration Form along with Form 8.

The Election Commission said electors aggrieved by decisions of Electoral Registration Officers could file appeals before the District Magistrate under Section 24(a) of the Representation of the People Act, 1950. A second appeal can be filed before the Chief Electoral Officer under Section 24(b) and Rule 27 of the Registration of Electors Rules, 1960.

The Chief Electoral Officer, Telangana, also held a meeting with representatives of recognised national and state political parties to explain the Special Intensive Revision process in detail.
