₹110 crore sanctioned for 3.57-km Pipeline Road linking Gandipet to Manikonda

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has sanctioned ₹110 crore for the development of a 3.57-km Pipeline Road connecting Shankarpally Road near Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) in Gandipet to Manikonda, aiming to ease traffic congestion in fast-growing western suburbs of the city.
The project is expected to decongest traffic in Kokapet, Manikonda, Gandipet, Puppalguda and Narsingi, along with their connecting areas. Officials said the road would significantly reduce travel time and improve mobility in Alkapur Township, Neknampur and surrounding localities.
The proposed road will have a six-lane carriageway with a 10-metre median designed to accommodate a heritage channel. The project scope also includes drain-cum-footpaths on either side of the carriageway, culverts, minor bridges, junction improvements and landscaping works.
Tenders will be floated shortly on the e-procurement platform. The works will be executed by Hyderabad Growth Corridor Limited (HGCL), a wing of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). HGCL will also take up construction of missing link roads as part of the project.
Both the arterial and link roads will be 80 feet wide. “These 80-feet-wide arterial roads will act as alternative routes to the main roads in those areas,” an HGCL official said.
The link roads will be taken up at an estimated cost of ₹3.27 crore and are expected to be completed within six months, the official added.
