Telangana to spend ₹251 crore on Sammakka Saralamma temple upgrade

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government will spend ₹251 crore on the development of the Sammakka Saralamma temple at Medaram, said Revenue, Housing, and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy.
Ponguleti, Seethakka review development works at Medaram
He, along with Panchayat Raj Minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, reviewed the progress of temple development works in Mulugu district on Monday. Officials briefed them on the pace of construction.
Reddy said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had recently sanctioned ₹101 crore for the project, of which tenders worth ₹71 crore have already been invited. With the previously sanctioned ₹150 crore, the total development outlay has reached ₹251 crore.
He said the government aims to develop the temple on a permanent basis in a phased manner. “Funds allocated for the Jatara will not go waste like floodwaters in Jampanna Vagu. We will develop the temple premises and related infrastructure, including roads,” he said.
The minister said instructions were issued to the district collector and superintendent of police to ensure that the works progress smoothly over the next 50 days. “We are open to suggestions from anyone. Minister Seethakka will personally monitor the works,” he added.
Govt expects over one crore devotees at next Jatara
Officials estimate that over one crore devotees visited the previous Medaram Jatara, and the number could double this time due to improved facilities, Reddy said.
When asked about reports of complaints against him, Reddy said, “Everyone knows who I am. I have no reason to chase contracts worth ₹70 crore. I don’t believe any of my colleague ministers have complained against me. There’s no scope for such a thing. We are all working in line with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s vision for development. I will continue to participate in these programmes along with leaders like Seethakka and Surekha Akka.”
MP Balram Naik and other officials attended the meeting.
