Telangana rain surge: heavy showers to hit several districts

HYDERABAD: A low-pressure area (LPA) over the Odisha coast is likely to trigger scattered rain and thunderstorms across parts of Telangana from September 11. The impact may peak on September 12 and 13.
North Telangana may see moderate to heavy rain
Scattered light to moderate rain and thunderstorms may develop across northern and eastern districts from late afternoon on September 11. The activity may continue overnight, mainly across the Godavari basin belt.
The affected districts may include Sircilla, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Medak, Siddipet, Hanamkonda, Warangal, Jangaon, Mahabubabad, Sangareddy, Vikarabad and Rangareddy.
Rain activity may increase from midnight to early morning across northern Telangana. Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Peddapalli and Mulugu may receive moderate to heavy rain.
Some areas could record 60-70 mm of rainfall, according to the forecast.
Hyderabad may get showers through morning
Hyderabad may see scattered rain or showers from the evening of September 11 into the following morning.
The latest forecast has brought forward the earlier September 13-16 rain spell. The current period of weather activity may now continue from September 11 to 14.
The LPA has formed over the south Odisha coast and may move further north than earlier expected. It may weaken into an upper-air circulation or a weak LPA.
Meanwhile, a broad circulation over Vidarbha may support heavy rain over Telangana.
The rain will not affect the entire state equally. Northern and eastern Telangana may see the strongest activity on September 12 and 13. Some areas could receive 50-70 mm of rain during this period.
Hyderabad and parts of south Telangana may also see moderate thunderstorms on September 12 and 13. The chances could remain higher on September 12.
Gadwal, Wanaparthy and Narayanpet may largely escape the spell. These districts could see only isolated thunderstorms.
Rain activity may ease from September 15 to 17, according to the forecast.
