Telangana to Witness Widespread Rain Today as Active Monsoon Strengthens
HYDERABAD: An active monsoon spell is set to bring widespread moderate to heavy rainfall across eastern and northern Telangana on July 27, 2026, as weather conditions remain favourable, according to the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS).
From late afternoon through the night, moderate to heavy rain is likely in Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mahabubabad and Khammam.
Meanwhile, several central and western Telangana districts are also expected to receive widespread moderate rainfall. These include Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Medak, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Siddipet, Jangaon, Karimnagar, Hanamkonda, Warangal and Narayanpet.
In contrast, the remaining districts are likely to experience scattered light showers from late afternoon until night.
Active monsoon strengthens across Telangana
Over the past 24 hours, the southwest monsoon strengthened across north and west Telangana, bringing widespread rainfall to several districts.
As a result, Rangareddy, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Nizamabad, Mahabubnagar and Nagarkurnool received significant rainfall.
Metpalle records highest rainfall
According to TGDPS, Metpalle in Jagtial district recorded the highest rainfall of 77.8 mm during the last 24 hours.
Other notable rainfall totals include:
- Sangareddy town – 71.8 mm
- Shankarpally (Rangareddy) – 70.8 mm
- Mominpet (Vikarabad) – 61 mm
- Papanpet (Medak) – 59.8 mm
- Pudur (Vikarabad) – 56.3 mm
- Achampet (Nagarkurnool) – 47.5 mm
- Madnur (Kamareddy) – 42.3 mm
Overall, the latest forecast indicates that the active monsoon phase will continue across Telangana, with several districts likely to receive widespread rainfall through the day and into the night.
