Telangana proposes eight new MA courses
HYDERABAD: After the introduction of new undergraduate courses triggered debate over approvals in Telangana, the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE) has proposed eight new postgraduate programmes under the Master of Arts (MA) stream.
The Council wrote to universities on June 25 and June 27, proposing four courses each and asking them to examine the draft syllabus and guidelines before taking a decision. Universities have been requested to complete the exercise before the CPGET 2026 admission counselling schedule is announced.
Council cites regulatory and infrastructure requirements
TSCHE Chairman Balakista Reddy said the courses had been proposed under the MA stream because Master of Business Administration (MBA) programmes require approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), while Master of Science (MSc) courses require laboratory infrastructure.
He said graduates from any discipline would be eligible to apply for these programmes. According to the Council, 25 colleges have already applied to offer the new courses.
Vice-Chancellors yet to take a final call
The Council has also sent guidelines to universities for introducing experiential learning at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.
Attention is now focused on the decisions that Vice-Chancellors of the universities will take on the Council’s proposals.
