Telangana Power Demand Hits Record 19,543 Mw

HYDERABAD: Telangana recorded an all-time high power demand of 19,543 MW at 10.41 IST on September 10, 2026, marking a new peak for the state.

The demand was 23% higher than the 15,906 MW recorded on the corresponding day last year, September 9, 2025. The rise reflects increased power consumption across domestic, agricultural, commercial and industrial sectors.

The latest peak surpassed the previous record of 19,506 MW recorded on March 27, 2026. The new benchmark was set within six months of the earlier peak.

Peak power demand in Telangana has risen steadily in recent years. It stood at 15,497 MW in FY 2022-23, 15,623 MW in FY 2023-24 and 17,162 MW in FY 2024-25.

The state continued to meet the growing demand despite adverse weather conditions and the impact of El Nino.

According to power sector authorities, proactive planning, infrastructure development and power system management helped the state meet the rising energy requirements.
