Telangana postpones Group II & III exams

Hyderabad: Following protests and talks with the Congress leaders, the Telangana government has officially informed that it is postponing the Group II examinations. As per the previous schedule, the exams, which were less than three weeks away now stands postponed to a later date in December, 2024.

In a official communication issued regarding the same by the Telangana State Public Service Commission it is said that “It is hereby informed that the Commission having deliberated on the proximity of examination dates between various recruitments has decided to reschedule the Group II exams scheduled on August 7th and 8th 2024 to December 2024.” The note further added that Group II exam would be conducted in the month December would be announced later.

Protests and talks

For a while now, government job aspirants in Telangana were widely protesting demanding to increase the number of posts for the Group II services and for the postponement of the exams dates to a late time for better preparation time and to avoid classes with other government exams. Aspirants pointed out that several students were also appearing for the DSC exam and the time gap between the two exams was making it difficult for them. Though the protests were intensifying, the Congress government did not make any announcements before.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, some of the Congress leaders, including the Deputy Chief Minister Batti Vikramarkha were in talks with the protestors and since then there were speculations that there would be a positive outcome for the aspirants. Similarly, the Telangana government has issued orders on Friday. Earlier in the day, Congress leader, Mallu Ravi also said that the government agreed for the postponement after discussing with all the stakeholders involved including the TGPSC, students and leaders. Malli Ravi further added that new dates would be announced later after thinking about feasible dates which would be acceptable and avoid inconvenience to the aspirants.
