Telangana police issue advisory as heavy rains disrupt routes
Hyderabad: The Rachakonda Police have issued a traffic advisory following inputs from the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Suryapet and the Commissioner of Police (CP) of Khammam. The advisory, announced via ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), highlights significant disruptions caused by the ongoing heavy rains.

According to the advisory, rainwater is overflowing onto NH 65 at Chillakallu and Nandigama in Andhra Pradesh. The Paleru River is spilling onto the road at Nayakani Gudem on the route from Suryapet to Khammam. A bridge has also collapsed at Ramapuram X Road after crossing Kodad Town in the Suryapet District of Telangana.
The citizens are advised to postpone their journeys for safety reasons.

Hyderabad to Vijayawada:
Hyderabad – Choutuppal – Chityal – Narketpally – Nalgonda – Miryalguda – Piduguralla – Guntur – Vijayawada.
Hyderabad to Khammam:
Hyderabad – Choutuppal – Chityal – Nakrekal – Arvapally – Thungathurthy – Maddirala – Marripeta Bungalow – Khammam.

On September 1, 2024, severe waterlogging in Hyderabad city resulted in significant traffic delays. The Cyberabad Traffic Police reported that waterlogging on the Bachupally to Gandimaisamma road near Angara Restaurant caused vehicles to become stuck.
In response, Miyapur traffic police have excavated the road and installed a new pipeline to improve rainwater drainage. Authorities are working diligently to address these issues and ensure public safety.
In a tragic incident, Dr. Nunavath Ashwini, a young scientist with the ICAR – National Institute of Biotic Stress Management’s School of Crop Resistance System Research in Raipur, and her father were found dead on September 1, 2024, near the Akeruvagu Bridge after being swept away by floodwaters.
Ashwini and her father, Nunawat Motilal, residents of Gangaram Thanda in Singareni Mandal, Khammam district, were on their way to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad when their car was swept away by the overflowing Akeruvagu stream at Purushothamaiahgudem in Maripeda Mandal. The stream had flooded a bridge, causing their vehicle to fall into the rushing waters.
