Telangana Police Seize Hashish Oil Bust

Hyderabad: The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Bhongir, along with the Pochampally police, has apprehended two interstate drug peddlers involved in transporting hash oil.

The seized property includes 10.2 kg of hashish oil and 2 mobile phones, all worth Rs. 1,52,20,000 (one crore two Lakhs twenty thousand).

The case was registered at the Pochampally police station under Cr. No. 173/2024 U/s. 8 (c) r/w 20 (b) (ii) (C) of the NDPS Act 1985.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gammeli Govinda Rao (36), son of Arjun, an agricultural worker from Kolamamidi (V), Hukumpeta (M), Alluri Sitharamaraju District, Andhra Pradesh, and Korra Rambabu (30), son of Korra Appa Rao, also an agricultural worker from Rahulapetu (V), Hukumpeta (M), Alluri Seetharama Raju District, Andhra Pradesh. Both men were reportedly involved in the illicit drug trade to earn quick money.

According to the police investigation, Govinda Rao and Rambabu, who were friends and residents of Andhra Pradesh, initially procured hashish oil in small quantities and sold it in their local area. They later decided to procure a larger quantity of hashish oil to sell at a higher profit. On August 26, 2024, they obtained 10.2 kilograms of hashish oil from their sources, Chanti and Laxmi Naidu, and were en route to Hyderabad when they were apprehended.

The SOT, Bhongir Zone team, along with the Pochampally Police, intercepted them at Ayyappa Swamy Temple in Pochampally. The operation also revealed that around 35 to 40 kilograms of ganja is required to produce 1 kilogram of hashish oil, indicating that approximately 450 kilograms of ganja were used to produce the seized hashish oil.

The police are continuing their efforts to apprehend the other accused, Chanti and Laxmi Naidu.

Public Appeal: The Rachakonda Police urge the public to refrain from engaging in illegal activities and to cooperate with law enforcement to combat the drug menace.

Caution: Procuring, selling, transporting, and consuming banned narcotics and drugs is a criminal offense punishable by imprisonment for up to 10 years and, in some cases, death under Section 31A of the NDPS Act.

The arrests were made under the direct supervision of G. Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, with guidance from M. Rajesh Chandra, IPS, DCP Bhongir, A. Ramana Reddy, DCP SOT, Malkajgiri & Bhongir SOT, N. Narsimha Reddy, ADCP SOT-I, V. Srikanth, ACP SOT-I, and Inspectors A. Ramulu (Pochampally), D. Praveen Babu, and T. Ravikumar (SOT, Bhongir).
