SIT issues notice to MLC Naveen Rao in phone tapping case

HYDERABAD: In a fresh development in the phone tapping case that triggered a political storm in Telangana, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has issued a notice to MLC Naveen Rao.
Notice for questioning
The SIT directed Naveen Rao to appear for questioning at the Jubilee Hills police station on Thursday morning. He is accused of carrying out phone tapping using electronic devices, officials said.
More BRS leaders may be questioned
Investigators indicated that the SIT may soon question key leaders of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi as the probe widens.
Pen drive emerges as key evidence
A pen drive has emerged as a crucial piece of evidence in the case. SIT officials reportedly found hundreds of phone numbers stored on the device. Investigators believe the data was recorded during the tenure of former Special Intelligence Bureau chief Prabhakar Rao.
According to preliminary findings, the pen drive contains phone numbers and profile details of political leaders, senior journalists and even a High Court judge. Officials said further details are being gathered as part of the ongoing investigation.
