PEDDI ticket price hike Telangana

HYDERABAD: Ahead of the PEDDI movie release on June 4, the Telangana government approved a temporary hike in ticket prices statewide. However, theatres must contribute 20% of the additional revenue to a welfare fund for film industry workers.

Specifically, Principal Secretary Shikha Goel of the Home (General) Department issued the order, granting a 10-day window (June 4–13) for the higher rates. Single-screen theatres can charge Rs 100 (including GST) per ticket, while multiplexes can charge Rs 125. The government also approved a special preview show on June 3 at 8:00 PM with a flat rate of Rs 600.

In addition, all theatres may screen a maximum of five shows per day, following earlier government orders.

Although producers and exhibitors requested the hike, the government included a key welfare clause. Theatres must contribute 20% of the extra revenue to the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation Welfare Association Account. The Telangana Film Development Corporation (FDC) will operate the separate account to support film industry workers.

Furthermore, the order instructs theatres to screen advertisements about the dangers of narcotics, drugs, and cybercrime. The government instructed District Collectors, Police Commissioners, and all cinema licensing authorities in Telangana to ensure theatres follow these rules.

The decision follows requests from Mythri Movie Makers, the producers of PEDDI, and relaxes earlier rules. The movie is set to release in theatres on June 4.
