Telangana sets new record with peak electricity demand of 17,162 MW

Hyderabad: Telangana reached a new milestone in its electricity consumption, registering a peak demand of 17,162 Megawatts on March 20, 2025, surpassing the previous record of 15,623 MW set in 2024.
Despite the significant rise in demand, the Congress government assured that the supply of uninterrupted, high-quality electricity continues across the state. Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Finance, Planning, and Power, Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, commended the efforts of the state’s power utilities in managing the peak load.
The surge in electricity demand is attributed to the ongoing growth in the industrial, commercial, and IT sectors. In preparation for the increase in demand, the state government implemented strategic measures, including expanding power generation capacity and enhancing the transmission and distribution infrastructure since December 2023.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu praised the employees of TGGENCO, TGTRANSCO, TGSPDCL, and TGNPDCL for their dedication and hard work in ensuring reliable power supply, urging them to maintain their commitment to meeting the state’s future energy needs.
