Telangana on orange alert as IMD forecasts heavy rain,

HYDERABAD: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast medium to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across several parts of Telangana on Wednesday and Thursday. Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon is likely to reach Kerala and Tamil Nadu by Thursday.
The weather agency has issued an Orange alert for several districts. It warned of heavy rainfall and thunderstorm activity in Adilabad, Kumuram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna-Sircilla, Karimnagar, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Mahabubnagar, Warangal and Hanamkonda.
According to the IMD, these districts may receive heavy rain along with thunderstorms over the next two days. As a result, authorities are monitoring the situation closely.
Heavy rain in Khammam, Bhadradri Kothagudem
Several districts received significant rainfall on Tuesday. Notably, Enkoor mandal in Khammam district recorded the highest rainfall at 7.9 cm.
Similarly, Aswaraopet in Bhadradri Kothagudem district received 4 cm of rain. Venkatapuram mandal in Mulugu district recorded 1.7 cm.
Temperatures stay above normal
Despite the rainfall, temperatures remained high across much of the state. On Tuesday, 27 districts recorded maximum temperatures between 40.2°C and 44.7°C.
However, the expected widespread rainfall may bring relief from the prevailing heat. Consequently, several parts of Telangana could witness a drop in temperatures over the next few days.
