No fuel shortage in Telangana, Civil Supplies urges public to ignore rumours

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Civil Supplies Department on April 27, 2026, clarified that there is no shortage of petrol and diesel in the state, urging citizens to ignore rumours circulating on social media about possible fuel scarcity.
The department said the state currently holds sufficient fuel stocks to meet the regular needs of commuters, transport operators and the farming sector.
Under the direction of Civil Supplies Commissioner M. Stephen Raveendra, IPS, officials are coordinating with Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to ensure uninterrupted supply and distribution.
According to official data, the state received 7,443 kilolitres (KL) of petrol and 11,081 KL of diesel till 16.00 IST, taking the total daily supply to 18,524 KL.
Authorities caution against hoarding and panic buying
The department appealed to citizens to act responsibly and avoid panic purchases, warning that illegal stockpiling poses safety risks. It also asked people to cooperate with petrol bunk staff and local police to prevent traffic congestion at fuel stations.
Officials said the situation is being monitored across all districts and any attempt to create artificial scarcity or spread panic would invite strict legal action.
Citizens can report complaints or suspected hoarding through the Civil Supplies Helpline at 1967.
