Meet Telangana’s new Governor, Jishnu Dev Varma
Hyderabad: The state of Telangana got the new Governor, Jishnu Dev Varma as appointed by the President of India Drupadi Murmu. CP Radhakrishnan, who held additional charge of Telangana along with that of Jharkhand is now appointed as Governor of Maharashtra.
Jishnu Dev Varma thanked President of India Drupadi Murmu and Prime Minister of India Narendera Modi for appointing him as the Governor of Telanagna. Taking to X (formerly Twitter) Jishnu Dev Varma posted, “I sincerely thank Her Excellency President of India and The Prime Minister of India for giving me an opportunity to serve the people as the Governor of Telangana”.

He further added “It is also a recognition for the people of my state -Tripura as this is the first time, since Independence that a person from this state has been elevated to this post. I therefore thank both, once again on behalf of Tripura.”
Jishnu Dev Varma, a senior BJP leader, previously served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura of the BJP-led coalition government from 2018 to 2023. As per his profile, Jishnu Dev Varma is also a writer and author. He recently released his memoirs titled “Views, Reviews & My Poems” which is a collection of his both prose and poetry. The book also consists of essays and articles on various topics and covering the diverse topics and history of his state, Tripura, as suggested by the preface of his book.
Governors appointed for others states too
Along with Jishnu Dev Varma, President of India is also appointed Governors for other states as well. Some of them include, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde as Governor of Rajasthan, Om Prakash Mathur appointed as Governor of Sikkim, Santosh Kumar Gangwar appointed as Governor of Jharkhand, Ramen Deka appointed as Governor of Chhattisgarh, C H Vijayashankar appointed as Governor of Meghalaya, C.P. Radhakrishnan was appointed as Governor of Maharashtra,Gulab Chand Kataria was appointed as Governor of Punjab and has also been appointed as Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh and Lakshman Prasad Acharya, appointed as Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge of the Governor of Manipur. The above appointments will take effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices, read the official statement.
