Applications invited for new bars in Telangana: Deadline set for April 26, 2025

Hyderabad: The Telangana government has announced the opening of applications for new bar licenses at the locations of previously closed bars. The deadline for submitting applications is set for April 26, 2025.
This decision follows the closure of 40 bars, whose licenses were revoked by the government for various reasons. In response, Excise Commissioner Chevuri Harikrishna has issued a notification to revive the licenses of these bars. The government plans to reopen bars in several districts across the state, including 5 in Adilabad, 1 in Karimnagar, 4 in Warangal, 2 in Khammam, 1 in Nalgonda, 5 in Mahabubnagar, 1 in Medak, 4 in Nizamabad, and 2 in Rangareddy District.
However, due to the upcoming Municipal MLC elections in the GHMC limits, applications for 15 bars within this area will not be accepted. Instead, notifications for 25 bars in rural districts of Telangana have been issued.
Additionally, applications have been opened for new bars at the locations of old bars in specific municipalities. In Meerpet Municipality, Saroornagar Excise Superintendent Ujjwala Reddy confirmed that applications are being invited. The application fee for this license is Rs. 1 lakh, and the bar license fee is Rs. 42 lakhs.
In the Rangareddy Division, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Vikarabad Excise Superintendent, a new bar is being proposed for Kodangal Municipality, part of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s constituency. Excise Deputy Commissioner Dashrath explained that the application fee for this bar is Rs. 1 lakh, with an annual license fee of Rs. 30 lakhs.
