Telangana NEET 2025 counselling schedule and merit list released

HYDERABAD: Counselling for MBBS and BDS admissions under the convener quota for the 2025-26 academic year will begin on September 16, Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS) announced on Friday.

The university released the provisional merit list of 16,620 Telangana candidates who scored between 638 and 113 marks in NEET-UG 2025. The state cutoff was fixed at 113 marks.

S Prajneshwar Rao, who secured All India Rank 144 with 638 marks, topped the state list. He was followed by Naga Manaswini Shiva (AIR 192, 633 marks) and Thumu Vennela (AIR 307, 626 marks).

Supreme Court directions followed

KNRUHS said the list was prepared after excluding candidates already considered for the All India Quota as per Supreme Court directions. A total of 1,020 ineligible candidates were removed from the state quota list.

Applications of government employees’ children under four categories were considered based on service certificates. Service certificates of 128 parents applying under Singareni quota for seven seats were verified. NCC, CAP and PwD category applications were also examined and approved.

Objections accepted till September 14

The university clarified that the provisional merit list is only for counselling. Students can raise objections till 5 pm on September 14. Those excluded from the local quota but eligible were advised to approach the university with valid documents. The final merit list will be published on September 15.

5,769 seats under state quota

Of the 4,140 MBBS seats in 35 government medical colleges, 3,519 seats (85%) fall under the state quota. In 26 private colleges with about 4,500 seats, 2,250 seats (50%) are available under the convener quota. In total, 5,769 seats will be filled by Telangana students under state quota.

PG medical merit list released

KNRUHS also released the provisional merit list for PG medical courses (degree and diploma) for 2025-26. The list includes 7,179 candidates. Suravaram Ruthvik Reddy, who secured All India Rank 16 with 684 marks, topped the state list, followed by Kayathi Rohan Reddy (AIR 22, 681 marks) and Gadde Alekhya (AIR 43, 675 marks).

Vice-chancellor Dr Nandakumar Reddy said state counselling will be conducted as per the Medical Counselling Committee’s national schedule. Telangana has 2,785 PG medical seats in government and private colleges, with the number expected to rise if private institutions’ requests for additional seats are approved.

In government colleges, 50% of PG seats will be filled under the All India Quota, while the remaining seats will go to state quota. In private colleges, 50% of seats are under convener quota and the rest under management quota.
