Congress dominates Mancherial, ties with CPI in Kothagudem

Vote counting underway during Telangana municipal corporation elections in Manchiryal and Nalgonda

HYDERABAD: Congress is leading in four of the seven municipalities in Telangana. The party is also moving towards victory in four municipal corporations, while its candidates continue to hold the lead in the remaining three corporations.

Congress has secured control of the Manchiryal Municipal Corporation. Of the 60 divisions in Manchiryal, the party has won more than 50 seats. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has won four seats.

Tight fight in Kothagudem

In Kothagudem Municipal Corporation, Congress and the Communist parties are locked in a close contest. In the 60-division corporation, Congress and the Communist Party of India (CPI) have won 22 seats each.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have won one seat each, while BRS is leading in eight divisions. Congress is ahead in the remaining divisions.

In Nalgonda Municipal Corporation, though the results are not one-sided as expected, the Congress candidate is set to become mayor.

Voting trends indicate that BJP is leading in two corporations.
