Telangana municipal polls see surge in nominations today

HYDERABAD: Nominations for the Telangana municipal elections are expected to be filed in large numbers on Wednesday, with the deadline ending on Thursday.
The nomination process began across the state on Tuesday. Officials said a total of 902 nominations were filed statewide on the first day. As it was the opening day, the number remained relatively low.
Parties finalising candidates
Candidates for municipal wards and municipal corporation divisions are continuing to file nominations on Wednesday as well. With the deadline set to end on Thursday, political parties are expected to finalise their candidates.
Rush expected before deadline
Given the limited time left, officials anticipate a sharp rise in nominations on Wednesday and Thursday across the state.
