Telangana municipal polls return 11 hung verdicts

Hyderabad: Counting of votes for seven municipal corporations and 116 municipalities across Telangana is under way on Friday, following polling held on the 11th of this month.
Votes are being counted at 136 centres across the state. The ruling Congress party has taken the lead in most districts and has already secured a majority of seats. However, a close contest is on in several places between the Congress and the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi.
Independents likely to play key role
So far, 11 municipalities have returned a hung verdict, making independents and ex officio members crucial in government formation.
The municipalities where no party has secured a clear majority are:

Alampur
Narsapur
Jinnaram (Sangareddy district)
Kesamudram
Isnapur
Asifabad
Jammikunta
Jangaon
Kamareddy
Amarachintha
