Migrant worker from Jagityal dies in Armenia; family seeks ₹5 lakh ex-gratia

JAGITYAL: A migrant worker from Thombaravupeta village died of a cardiac arrest in Armenia, prompting his family to urge the Telangana government to sanction ₹5 lakh as ex-gratia assistance.
Family seeks urgent financial support
Racherla Srinivas, who had returned to India earlier this year after working in Saudi Arabia for about nine years, left again on October 18, 2025, for employment in Armenia. He is survived by his wife, three daughters and a son.
According to villagers, Srinivas borrowed ₹5 lakh to secure the job abroad as the family had been facing severe financial distress. Within twenty days of reaching Armenia, he reportedly collapsed and died of a heart attack.
The family said the sudden death has pushed them into deeper financial trouble.
Community urges support for all migrant families
Although Srinivas had migrated outside the Gulf region, villagers said the financial vulnerabilities faced by such workers were similar. They appealed to the state government to extend compensation to all distressed migrant worker families, irrespective of the destination country.
Local volunteer Rajeshwar Varma, with assistance from Gangula Muralidhar Reddy, coordinated a free government ambulance to bring the body home. The funeral was held on December 9, 2025.
Reddy assures assistance with procedures
Reddy, who visited the family, said he would support them through all formalities. He urged the government to grant the ₹5 lakh ex-gratia, stating that “every migrant worker’s family deserves equal support”.
The family thanked officials for the timely repatriation but said immediate financial assistance is essential because of loan liabilities and dependent children.
