Telangana mid-day workers accuse Revanth Reddy over unpaid wages

HYDERABAD: Mid-day meal workers in government schools across Telangana have alleged severe hardship, saying their wages have not been paid for the past seven months.
They said the delay has affected their ability to manage daily expenses and continue preparing meals for students. Workers claimed they have repeatedly raised the issue with officials but payments are yet to be cleared.
Coarse rice supply forces workers to bear additional cooking costs
Workers also alleged that authorities are supplying coarse “doddu” rice instead of the fine “sanna” variety usually used in school meals. They said the change has made cooking more difficult and affected meal quality.
According to them, they are spending from their own pockets to procure vegetables, condiments and other essentials required for preparing mid-day meals.
Some workers say they sell household utensils to sustain programme
Several workers said they have sold personal utensils and household items to arrange provisions. “We are selling our vessels to buy cooking materials. It is becoming increasingly difficult to prepare meals for students,” workers told reporters.
They urged the government to release pending wages and ensure timely supply of quality foodgrain so that the scheme continues without disruption.
