42 Maoist Surrenders Mark Telangana Becoming Maoist-Free

HYDERABAD: Telangana is now free from Maoist armed activity after 42 Communist Party of India (Maoist) cadres, including senior commanders, surrendered to state police on April 10, 2026.
Key leaders who surrendered include Sodi Malla alias Keshal alias Nikhil, a People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) battalion commander and Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee member. Chapa Narayana alias Gajendar alias Madhu, a state committee member and JMMWP DVC secretary, also laid down arms. Kadthi Sannu alias Manthu, a divisional committee member of the BK-ASR division, was among them.
The cadres handed over 36 firearms. These include AK-47 rifles, self-loading rifles (SLRs), INSAS rifles, .303 rifles, a 9 mm Sten gun, pistols and revolvers. They also surrendered 1,007 rounds of live ammunition and 800 grams of gold.
Director General of Police B Shivadhar Reddy said earlier surrenders had already weakened the Maoist network. Those included 130 cadres who gave up 124 firearms.
“With these cumulative surrenders, we have effectively neutralised the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army, the armed wing of CPI (Maoist),” he said.
Officials said all members of the Telangana State Committee have now surrendered. This has completely dismantled the Maoist network in the state.
