HYDERABAD: In a rare instance, the Embassy of India in Bahrain has issued a death certificate after five years and four months for Sreepada Naresh, a native of Metpally town in Jagtial district, Telangana. Naresh died on May 28, 2020, at 15.00 IST in Salmaniya Hospital, Bahrain. The death certificate was issued on October 1, 2025, and officially communicated to the Telangana Government on October 30, 2025.
Embassy cites health-related death, remains unfit for repatriation
According to the Embassy, Naresh died of septic shock with multi-organ failure, liver failure, and community-acquired pneumonia. His mortal remains have been preserved at Salmaniya Hospital Morgue since 2020. The Embassy, in its communication, stated:
“Given the long duration, the mortal remains are not in a condition fit for transportation. The family is requested to convey consent for cremation or burial in Bahrain.”
Family seeks government intervention for last rites
The matter came to light recently after officials of the Indian Embassy in Bahrain confirmed the details. With the assistance of social worker Bokkenapally Nagaraju and Mandha Bheem Reddy, Vice Chairman of the Telangana NRI Advisory Committee, Naresh’s brother Dharmapuri Anand approached the CM Pravasi Prajavani grievance cell in Hyderabad on October 21, seeking the intervention of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to repatriate the remains.
Naresh’s wife, Sreepada Latha (alias Munikota Nagamani), who lives in Kalikota village of Kathalapur mandal, has reportedly been living in poverty. Both his biological and adoptive parents are deceased.
Efforts underway through NRI Department and social workers
On October 28, Anand, along with relatives Thipparthi Padma and social workers Madishetti Rakesh and Morapu Teja, met Dr. G. Chinna Reddy, In-charge of CM Pravasi Prajavani, in Hyderabad. They later held discussions with Ch. Shiva Lingayya, IAS, Joint Secretary of the NRI Department, and Kancharla Srinivas Reddy, Section Officer, to expedite official processes.
Bahrain-based volunteers Kotagiri Naveen, D.V. Shiva Kumar, and Nomula Murali are coordinating with the Indian Embassy. The family has appealed to the Telangana Government and NRI associations to help Anand travel to Bahrain to attend his brother’s funeral rites.
