BJP secures significant wins in Lok Sabha elections 2024 in Telangana
HYDERABAD: The results of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Telangana have brought both routine and surprising outcomes. Asaduddin Owaisi of the AIMIM party secured his fifth consecutive victory in the Hyderabad Parliament segment. Meanwhile, Kishan Reddy from the BJP clinched his second win in Secunderabad, and Etala Rajender emerged victorious in Malkajgiri, also representing the BJP. Notably, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, contesting for the BJP, claimed victory in the Chevella Parliament segment.
Hyderabad Parliament Segment
Asaduddin Owaisi maintained his stronghold, securing 250,186 votes with a 52.69% voting share. This marks his fifth term representing the Hyderabad constituency in the Lok Sabha. Despite a spirited challenge from Madhavi Latha Kompella of the BJP, who garnered 208,286 votes with 35.88%, Owaisi’s victory was decisive. In the 2019 elections, Owaisi won with 517,471 votes and 58.95%, demonstrating consistent support for his leadership. Dr. Bhagavanth Rao of the BJP emerged as the first runner-up with 235,285 votes and 26.80%, yet again falling short against Owaisi’s AIMIM party.

Secunderabad Parliament Segment
In the 2024 parliamentary elections for the Secunderabad constituency, G. Kishan Reddy of the BJP emerged victorious with 2,455,87 votes, securing 45.49% of the total votes cast. Coming in second was Danam Nagender of the Indian National Congress, who garnered 2,128,25 votes, representing 39.42% of the vote share. This marks G. Kishan Reddy’s second consecutive win in the Secunderabad segment, having also triumphed in the 2019 elections. Notably, in the 2019 elections, G. Kishan Reddy defeated Talasani Sai Kiran Yadav of the BRS, who secured 3,22,666 votes but ultimately lost to Kishan Reddy.
Malkajgiri Parliament Segment
In Malkajgiri, Etela Rajender, representing the BJP, emerged victorious with 538,020 votes and a vote share of 50.21%. Patnam Sunitha Mahender of the Congress secured the second position with 339,252 votes, accounting for 31.66% of the votes. The win for Rajender signifies a shift in power dynamics, as previously in 2019, Anumula Revanth Reddy had clinched victory with 603,748 votes and 38.6%, defeating Rajashekar Reddy Marri of the BRS.
Chevella Parliament Segment
In the Chevella Parliament segment, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, running as a BJP candidate, secured victory with 3,22,301 votes, accounting for 51.16% of the total votes. G. Ranjith Reddy, representing the Congress party, attained 2,25,015 votes, constituting 35.72% of the total votes.
In the 2019 elections, G. Ranjith Reddy contested from BRS and secured victory with 5,28,148 votes, which accounted for 41% of the total votes. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, contesting from Congress, was the second runner-up in 2019, securing 5,13,831 votes, which constituted 40% of the total votes.
Telangana witnessed the culmination of its parliamentary elections for the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies on May 13, 2024. As the nation awaited the results, the counting process commenced at 8 a.m. on Tuesday morning across various counting centers. The electoral landscape showcased a significant presence of the ruling Indian National Congress (INC), the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as prominent contenders in this fiercely contested election.
