Telangana finalises reservation for 2,620 liquor shops

HYDERABAD: Telangana has finalised the reservation process for 2,620 liquor shops across the state. Of these, 393 shops have been reserved for Gouds, 262 for Scheduled Castes and 131 for Scheduled Tribes.
The draw to allocate reserved shops was conducted in the presence of district collectors. Officials said the process was completed after the government issued the notification for new liquor shops.
Applications will be accepted from September 26 to October 18. The final allotment of shop licences will be done through a lottery on October 23.
Applicants must submit a demand draft or challan for ₹3 lakh with each application, excise officials said. The same rule applies to those applying under the reserved quota. Along with the application, candidates must attach three colour passport-size photographs, and photocopies of Aadhaar and PAN cards.
Officials clarified that applications can be made for any shop except those reserved for specific categories. Demand drafts or challans should be drawn in favour of the respective district excise officer.
