Telangana to accept liquor shop applications from September 26

Liquor Sales In Telangana Rise By 2% In 2024 25 Despite Decrease In Beer Sales

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government on Thursday issued guidelines for allotment of liquor shops in the state. Applications will be accepted from September 26 to October 18 for 2,620 liquor shops across Telangana. Shops will be allotted through a lottery system on October 23.

The excise department will issue fresh licences for two years, effective from December 1, 2025, to November 30, 2027. The application fee has been fixed at ₹3 lakh.

As per the 1968 Excise Act, individuals convicted under the Act and those who have defaulted on government dues will be ineligible to apply. The government has earmarked reservations: 15% for the Goud community, 10% for Scheduled Castes, and 5% for Scheduled Tribes. Applicants seeking reservation must submit valid caste certificates.
