IPS transfers: Telangana government reshuffles senior police officers, creates new zones

Hyderabad: The Telangana government on January 7, 2026, issued orders transferring and posting 20 Indian Police Service officers across Hyderabad City, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Malkajgiri and the newly created Future City Commissionerate, as part of an administrative reorganisation.

Senior-level reshuffle in Hyderabad policing

According to the Government Order issued by the General Administration (Special.B) Department, Tafseer Iqubal, IPS (2008), has been transferred from Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Hyderabad City, and posted as Additional Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), South Range, covering Shamshabad, Golconda, Rajendranagar and Charminar zones.

N. Swetha, IPS (2012), Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, Hyderabad City, has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), North Range, which includes Jubilee Hills, Khairatabad and Secunderabad zones.

S.M. Vijay Kumar, IPS (2012), Commissioner of Police, Siddipet, has been transferred and posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, Hyderabad City.

New commissionerates and zone realignment

Several postings were linked to the creation of new zones and commissionerates. N. Koti Reddy, IPS (2013), has been moved from Medchal Zone to Qutubullapur Zone in the newly created Cyberabad zone. K. Narayana Reddy, IPS (2013), has been retained as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Maheshwaram Zone, now under the newly created Future City Commissionerate.

Rakshitha K. Murthy, IPS (2015), has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Secunderabad Zone, while K. Suresh Kumar, IPS (2016), has been moved to Uppal Zone under the new Malkajgiri Commissionerate.

Siddipet, Future City see key appointments

Sadhana Rashmi Perumal, IPS (2019), has been appointed Commissioner of Police, Siddipet, replacing S.M. Vijay Kumar following his transfer. Yogesh Goutam, IPS (2018), has been posted as Deputy Commissioner of Police, Chevella Zone, under the Future City Commissionerate.

The order was issued with the approval of the Governor of Telangana and signed by Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao.
