Telangana IPS Officers’ Association condemns KTR’s remarks on DGP

HYDERABAD: The Telangana IPS Officers’ Association has strongly condemned what it described as “unwarranted and derogatory” remarks made by MLA K.T. Rama Rao against the state police leadership.
Association calls KTR’s remarks ‘baseless and harmful’
In a statement, the Association said K.T. Rama Rao made “baseless comments” against the Director General of Police (DGP) and the entire Telangana Police during an interview on Zee Telugu News.
It said any genuine grievances should be raised through lawful channels, not through “public slander” that could “mislead citizens and harm the reputation of an impartial police force.”

Remarks ‘demoralising for entire force’
“The DGP symbolises the integrity and professionalism of thousands of officers who ensure the safety and security of Telangana’s people,” the statement said. “Personal or defamatory comments against the DGP undermine the dignity of the office and demoralise the entire police fraternity.”
The Association added that while constructive criticism of institutions is welcome in a democracy, “baseless and disrespectful allegations for political gain are unbecoming and set a bad precedent.”
Police body urges restraint from leaders, media
Reiterating that the Telangana Police has maintained neutrality and adherence to the rule of law, the Association urged political leaders and media organisations to “exercise restraint and responsibility.”
“The dignity of constitutional institutions and senior public servants must be preserved in the larger interest of democratic governance,” it said.
The IPS Officers’ Association reaffirmed its support for the DGP and said it “reserves the right to initiate appropriate legal action” against any individual or entity making defamatory or malicious statements against serving officers or the institution.
