Telangana Intermediate exams 2025 schedule, syllabus changes announced by TSBIE Secretary Krishna Aditya

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Board of Intermediate Education (TSBIE) on Saturday announced the schedule for the Intermediate Public Examinations 2025. The exams will be held from February 25 to March 18, following state government approval.

Speaking to reporters, Board Secretary Krishna Aditya said practical exams will begin on February 3, following the existing pattern. “Even first-year students will have lab and practical exams. Practicals will be conducted in English and other languages,” he said.

Major syllabus overhaul after 12 years

Aditya said that the Intermediate syllabus is being revised after 12 years, with changes to Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology. The new syllabus will align with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) framework and the recommendations of subject committees.

Junior and degree college lecturers will participate in the revision, to be completed within 45 days. The revised syllabus will be handed over to the Telugu Akademi by December 15, with new textbooks — featuring QR codes — available by end of April 2025.

“The syllabus will follow an 80:20 structure, and all content is being converted into digital chapters as per the Chief Minister’s directions,” Aditya said. The new syllabus will come into effect from 2026.

Over 9.5 lakh students to take exams

About 9.5 lakh students are expected to appear for the upcoming Intermediate exams across Telangana. Around 4.2 lakh students attend the practical exams each year, and similar participation is expected this time.

The Board is also finalising plans to hold practical exams in government colleges to ensure transparency and reduce exam-related anxiety among students. Commerce students will have a special course, with a new ACE group to be introduced from 2026.

Aditya said the reforms aim to improve students’ language proficiency and learning outcomes.
