Telangana to begin house listing from May 11

HYDERABAD: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao directed officials to conduct the state-wide house listing exercise from May 11 to June 9 under the first phase of the population census.
He reviewed the preparations at a meeting with secretaries of all government departments and district collectors at the Secretariat on Tuesday. The meeting was held with Bharati Holikeri, director of the state census operations.
2027 census to be fully digital for first time
Rao said the 2027 population census will be conducted through a fully digital system for the first time in India. Field data will be recorded using a mobile application designed for the exercise.
He said the self-enumeration facility for citizens will begin 15 days before May 11. Under this system, residents can enter their own details online.
No habitation should be left out of survey
The Chief Secretary asked district collectors to ensure complete geographical coverage of all villages and mandals.
“No house, habitation, remote settlement, hamlet or urban slum should be left out. All details must be recorded,” he said.
He also directed officials to organise training programmes for enumerators and supervisors involved in the census work.
Holikeri briefed officials on responsibilities at every administrative level, from the state to village functionaries. She also explained the mobile applications and digital monitoring systems developed for the data collection process.
