Telangana High Court Summer Vacation Starts May 5

Hyderabad: The High Court for the State of Telangana will remain closed for summer vacation from Monday, May 5 to Friday, June 6, 2025, both days inclusive. However, designated benches will function on select dates during this period to hear urgent matters.

As per the schedule released by the High Court, vacation benches will sit every Wednesday to hear specific categories of cases filed two days prior, on Mondays. On May 7, Justice Surepalli Nanda and Justice J. Sreenivas Rao will constitute the Division Bench, while Justice Pulla Karthik will hear matters sitting as a Single Bench. On May 14, Justice Pulla Karthik and Justice Narsing Rao Nandikonda will preside over the Division Bench, with Justice J. Sreenivas Rao sitting singly.

For the sitting on May 21, the Division Bench will comprise Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka and Justice Narsing Rao Nandikonda. On May 28, the Division Bench will include Justice Nagesh Bheemapaka and Justice Laxmi Narayana Alishetty, while Justice K. Sarath will hear cases as a Single Bench. The final sitting during the vacation is scheduled for June 4, with Justice K. Sarath and Justice B.R. Madhusudhan Rao on the Division Bench, and Justice K. Sujana hearing Single Bench matters.

The notification also outlines the role of the Vacation Officers. From May 5 to May 21, the duties will be handled by T. Krishna Kumar, Joint Registrar, along with Deputy Registrars L. Lakshmi Babu, T. Jayasree, and B. Saraswathi. For the second half of the vacation, from May 22 to June 6, I. Naga Lakshmi, Joint Registrar, will serve alongside Deputy Registrars K. Sree Rama Murthy, B. Chandra Prakash, and K. Sai Kumari.

The Vacation Benches will hear urgent matters including habeas corpus petitions, anticipatory bail applications, bail applications rejected by Magistrates or Sessions Courts, and other cases requiring immediate attention such as eviction, demolition, or dispossession. Any such matter must be specifically permitted by the Senior Vacation Judge. Notices of urgent applications must be given to the Vacation Officers by 1:30 p.m. on the day of filing.

All lunch motions and urgent mentions related to Division Bench matters must be moved before the Senior Judge on the Division Bench, while those concerning Single Bench matters should be brought before the respective Single Judge. Routine and pending matters will not be taken up unless there is a specific order for listing, and no policy or administrative matters will be entertained during the vacation. After completing Division Bench work, the Judges may take up Single Bench matters, and allocation of subject matters will be at the discretion of the Hon’ble Senior Judge.
