Telangana Heritage Department signs MOU with St Francis College

HYDERABAD: The Department of History on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Heritage, Government of Telangana, aimed at strengthening academic engagement in heritage conservation and archaeological studies.
Partnership to support field-based learning
According to college officials, the collaboration will introduce structured modules on heritage protection, documentation methods and basic archaeological practices. Students will be able to participate in guided visits to notified heritage sites, field demonstrations and short-term training programmes conducted by the Department of Heritage.
Academic inputs and technical exposure
Faculty members from both institutions said the MOU will help students understand the legal, cultural and administrative processes involved in safeguarding Telangana’s historic structures. The partnership will also support internships, guest lectures by heritage specialists and joint outreach programmes designed to promote awareness about conservation.

Officials present for signing
The Department of Heritage was represented by director Arjun Rao Kuthadi. St Francis College for Women was represented by principal Uma Joseph.
Also present were P. Nagaraju from the Department of Heritage and Rooman Deb from the Department of History, St Francis College for Women.
Focus on Telangana’s architectural legacy
Officials noted that the state’s expanding work on conservation covering temples, forts, stepwells and other archaeological locations provides an opportunity for students to observe preservation efforts first hand. The college said the collaboration will encourage more students to consider careers in heritage management, museum studies and cultural documentation.
