Heavy Rain Disrupts Train, Bus Services Across Telangana

HYDERABAD: Heavy rain since Tuesday night disrupted transport services across Telangana, affecting both rail and road connectivity. The incessant downpour continued till Wednesday night, flooding several railway tracks and highways.

At Dornakal station on the Kazipet–Vijayawada route, floodwater entered the premises around 10.30 am, submerging the tracks. Train movement between Warangal and Vijayawada was halted in both directions.

When the floodwater entered, the Secunderabad–Guntur Golconda Express had just arrived at Dornakal. As the situation worsened, the train was stopped there, and passengers were sent to their destinations by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) buses.

Vande Bharat, Krishna Express among affected trains

The Visakhapatnam–Secunderabad Vande Bharat Express was halted at Khammam. Sixty-seven passengers bound for Warangal were shifted to buses, while the train returned to Vijayawada and was rerouted via Guntur–Nadikudi–Pagidipalli to Secunderabad.

The Krishna Express, which was stopped at Mahabubabad station, was similarly rerouted via Guntur after dropping passengers heading to Khammam. The Konark Express, halted at Gundratimadugu, also followed the Guntur diversion route.

137 trains cancelled due to cyclone impact

Railway authorities cancelled 137 trains and partially cancelled 10 more between Tuesday night and Wednesday night due to the cyclone’s impact. Another 33 trains were diverted and 35 rescheduled.

Dornakal station saw 13 train cancellations and 11 partial cancellations, while 19 were diverted. Services resumed around 6.30 pm after water levels receded.

Trains cancelled included Guntur–Vikarabad, Vijayawada–Secunderabad, Secunderabad–Sirpur Kagaznagar, Vijayawada–Dornakal, Vikarabad–Guntur, Charlapalli–Tirupati and Charlapalli–Tiruchanur routes.

Over 130 bus services suspended

Due to heavy rainfall in coastal Andhra regions — Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, and Amalapuram — TSGRTC suspended services on Tuesday and Wednesday. Passenger numbers to Vijayawada dropped sharply, prompting limited operations. Nearly 90 services were cancelled on Wednesday alone.

By evening, about 130 bus services were halted, including those on the Srisailam route after a road cut near Dindi around 4 pm.
