Heavy rain lashes Telangana; Palimela records 196 mm, more flooding forecast

HYDERABAD: Widespread heavy rainfall lashed several parts of Telangana over the past 24 hours, with north and eastern districts receiving the highest precipitation.
According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), very heavy rainfall of up to 200 mm was recorded in parts of north and eastern Telangana. Moderate to heavy rain was reported across central and eastern districts.
Palimela in Bhupalapally district recorded the highest rainfall at 196 mm during the 24-hour period.
Hyderabad also received widespread rain. Musheerabad recorded the city’s highest rainfall at 54 mm, according to TGDPS data.
Weather forecasts indicate that north and eastern Telangana are likely to receive more heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next two days. Some forecasts suggest isolated areas could receive up to 400 mm of rainfall, raising the possibility of flooding in vulnerable locations.
Authorities have advised residents in low-lying and flood-prone areas to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions as rainfall continues.
